Hooligan on the Run for MS
On November 4th, our very own Thomas Ostuni will compete in the fifth largest sporting event on the planet – and the largest of its sport — The ING New York City Marathon.
With two million live spectators and 315 million watching on TV, it’s considered the world’s great road race. For most New Yorkers, the annual marathon is a spectacular block party spanning the Five Burroughs. For Thomas, it’s a Herculean 26.2-mile challenge of physical endurance and will: he’ll ambitiously embark over the Verrazano-Narrows bridge coming from Staten Island before making the final stretch all the way in Central Park.
Thomas is running for more than the pride of triumphing an elite physical challenge on his bucket list — or the $600K in prize money for which the pros are vying. He’s running for The National Multiple Sclerosis Society – a disease that holds personal significance since his wife was diagnosed six years ago. While it’s his first marathon, Thomas has been training hard since March to prepare for the epic run. In the meantime, he’s been taking pledges to reach his fundraising goal of $4K to be eligible for the race — with more than 100K applicants annually, only a fraction make the cut to run for charity. He had to raise half of his goal by September to remain eligible, but still has about $1,000 to go. Every little bit helps, so please chip in! It’s a worthwhile cause, folks.
